SIT30921 Certificate III in Catering
A number of the cookery units in the new SIT20421 Certificate II Cookery qualification now require trainers to hold either the:
- Certificate III in Catering; or
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery; or
- a trade certificate as a cook or chef (or equivalent)
- in order to assess the unit of competency
Education Is Key and QSS are proud to offer the Trainer Upskill program to assist VETis teachers meet these requirements, by attaining the SIT30921 Certificate III in Catering through a combination of:
- Credit Transfer for relevant units you already hold
- Recognition of Prior Learning for any experience, knowledge or non-accredited training you already hold
- Competency-based outcomes for any remaining units
Comprised of between 2-5 days face-to-face practical training in the kitchen led by Julie Armstrong, you are provided with all ingredients and recipes to undertake your learning and assessment. The number of training days is determined by which electives are chosen; which core units you already hold; and how many years experience as a Food Tech Teacher.
Your training is then supported by provision of any Statements of Attainment, USI Transcripts, completion of the RPL document and completion of assessments for any competency-based units.
*** From experience, the competency based units are generally SITHPAT011 Produce Cakes and SITHCCC026 Package prepared foodstuffs; however if you hold these units you are eligible for Credit Transfer.
