BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing
This qualification suits those who are working in, or wish to work in auditing and compliance roles in any sector or industry – the skills are transferable. You will learn how to achieve and maintain compliance against your funding contracts, regulations and Standards; as well as how to introduce continuous improvement activities; lead and manage teams and understand and manage risk.
The training program consists of twelve (12) Units of Competency.
There are four Core units:
- BSBAUD411 Participate in Quality Audits
- BSBAUD511 Initiate Quality Audits
- BSBAUD512 Lead Quality Audits
- BSBAUD513 Report on Quality Audits
And eight (8) Elective units. Elective units can be chosen to suit your individual needs and circumstances.

- Written activities
- Questions which relate to the underpinning knowledge of the unit (information found in the Learner Guide)
- Questions which require some independent research to build on your skills and knowledge
- Final Project (for each unit competency)
- And a final project and Skype or face-to-face presentation of your Audit Plan (for BSBAUD411, BSBAUD511, BSBAUD512 & BSBAUD512)
- All students must prepare for, participate in and report on two quality audits. These can be audits in your workplace (with evidence provided to confirm your participation) or audits that are based on scenario’s and simulations if you are not currently working in quality or compliance.

- A Diploma level qualification takes a minimum of 12 months to complete for learners with no prior experience or knowledge of auditing, compliance or continuous improvement activities.
- Quality Service Skills completes an individual Learner Profile with each learner prior to enrolment, to gain an understanding of your prior skills and experience. This helps us to determine appropriate time-frames for completion of all study based on your needs and abilities.
- The above time-frames include all training, assessment and workplace and/or placement observations.
- There are no pre-requisite units of competency to undertake this program
- Whilst it is preferable that the participants have the ability to access workplace documentation to assist with their assessments, it is not a formal requirement and Quality Service Skills can assist you to source sample templates, reports and audit plans.
- A pre-enrolment interview and Language, Literacy and Numeracy Assessment is required to be undertaken by each participant, to ensure that this is the right course for you to complete, and to determine that you are able to undertake Assessments at AQF 5 (Diploma) level. - Carli Lamb is an experienced Auditor and holds a Diploma of Quality Auditing and a Certificate IV Training & Assessment. Carli has worked as an Auditor since 2006, first with QICSA (now QIP) under the peer review model, progressing to Audit Team Leader and then in 2017 with Quantum Certification Services. At Quantum Carli undertook around 70+ audits, most of them NDIS audits and almost all as Lead Auditor.Carli has also worked as a Consultant, preparing many organisations for their audits and is familiar with many standards including but not limited to the NDIS Practice Standards, VRQA Minimum Standards, Child Safe Standards, Victorian Department Health & Human Services (Human Service Standards), National Standards for Mental Health Services, National Standards for Disability Services, Quality Management (ISO9001:2008 and ISO9001:2015) Accreditation, Surveillance and Site Audits. Risk management is Carli’s specialist area and she has completed an Advanced Diploma of Governance, Risk and Compliance.
- Jackie Moriarty holds a Diploma of Quality Auditing and a Certificate IV Training & Assessment, and has over 14 years’ experience in the training industry. Her Quality Auditing and Compliance experience includes preparation for and participation in federal and state-based funding and contractual compliance audits including: Victorian Department Health & Human Services (Human Service Standards), National Standards for Mental Health Services, National Standards for Disability Services, Department of Ageing (Commonwealth Home Support Program), Quality Management (ISO9001:2008 and ISO9001:2015) Accreditation, Surveillance and Site Audits, ASQA Re-Registration & Addition to Scope (Standards for Registration 2015), Victorian Registration & Qualifications Authority, QLD Department of Education User Choice, Skills Tasmania AVETMISS Compliance, Department of Employment jobactive ‘Quality Assurance Framework’, Department of Innovation Skills for Education and Employment Program, Victorian State Government (HESG – contractual compliance, business process, evidence of eligibility, evidence of participation), Department of Employment (NEIS Program), NSW Smart & Skilled Funding …….just to name a few. If you have experience in auditing, compliance and continuous improvement activities, you may like to have those skills formally recognised through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Process.
Quality Service Skills offers RPL for 8 units of competency within the BSB50920 Diploma of Quality Auditing.
Participants who are deemed competent through the RPL process are awarded either a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment or a full Certificate.

- Up to four (4) units can be from a Diploma of Advanced Diploma level in any currently endorsed Training Package (for example, from Community Services, Business, Training & Education)
The units in maroon above are the recommended units of Quality Service Skills, based on years of experience working in compliance and quality; however each learner can choose their own electives to suit their individual needs.
